How it Works

Quidster is a limited entry competition website. What this means is that whenever you enter any of our competitions, you are only ever up against a limited number of other players competing for a particular prize. Quidster set the number of entry places for each competition in relation to the prize, so your odds of winning are always better than other competitons where there is unlimited entry. You can enter any of our competitions as many times as you like, but once all the entry spaces are filled, that's it, it closes and the winner is the player who submitted the correct answer in the fasted time.

For more information, please read our step-by-step guide and FAQ below

Step 1. Register

screengrab of registration screenTo be able to enter Quidster competitions, you must register first. All we need to know is your name, telephone number (incase we need to contact you in a hurry), address (so we know where to send your prizes if you win!), your user name (you can use your nickname or make something up, but no rude words please!) and your e-mail address. You also choose a password so only you can log on and enter our competitions using your Quister account.

Step 2. Buy Playing Credits

This is a simple and secure process carried out through Paypal. Once you click on the 'Buy Playing Credits' link you are automatically taken to the secure Paypal website where you can either pay via debit/credit card or via your Paypal account (if you have one). Credits cost 25p each and are bought in blocks of twenty at a time. You can also get free credits by referring a friend to Quidster (see our Referral procedure).

Step 3. Select a Competition

screengrab of competition listings screenScroll down our list of current Open Competitions to choose a prize you would like to win. There are many different types of game and many game 'themes' or categories within each game type. Next to each competition, you'll see a percentage figure that tells you how full it is. What this means is that once all the limited entry places are taken and it reaches 100%, no more entries can be made and the competition will automatically close.

If you're new to Quidster, you probably want to try it out first. We have a range of free practice competitions which play identically to the actual, prize-winning competitions. The only difference is you can't win anything in the practice competitions - they're just for fun.

Step 4. Enter the Competition

screengrab of entering competition and competition application screens screengrab of entering competition and competition application screens screengrab of entering competition and competition application screensWhen you enter a competition, you will be advised of how many credits will be deducted from you account and reminded that, by entering, you've accepted our Terms and Conditions. As stated, there are many different types of game. Some test your general knowledge, others your reflexes. On each competition detail page, you will find a link to a limited free version of that game, so you can try it out before you commit. When the game loads, you get a final chance to check the details before hitting 'play'. This is when the credits are taken from your account and the competition starts. Some games use a timer that starts immediately it loads, so get ready!

Only correct results will be logged and entered onto the leader board. At the end of the game, you will be told the highest place you hold on that leader board and how full the competition is. You can also play again, if your time wasn't good enough.

The competitions use Flash, so please note, you will need the latest version of Flash to participate in Quidster competitions. If you can see the main rainbow-style navigation at the top of this page, you should be OK.

Step 5. Guard that Top Spot!

screengrab of My Account overview screen screengrab of My Account overview screenSo you've entered a competition, played the game and grabbed the number one place on the leader board. Well done! Now all you have to do is make sure no one beats you. You can monitor all the competitions that you've entered via the "My Account" screens and make sure you stay in pole position. Additionally, you will probably want to sign up to the various automatic notification services on the 'account settings' screen of "My Account". Here you can elect to be sent an email whenever someone knocks you off the top spot, amongst other things. Once each competition finishes, we manually confirm the winner and send the prize off to them.

F.A.Q.

  1. What if all the entry places do not fill up on a competition?

Although we have set our entry levels as low as possible, a competition may not fill up if, say, enough people don't know the correct answer to the question or if the prize on offer doesn't appeal to enough people.

To be as fair possible to those people who have entered such a competition, Quidster.com pre-sets a final closing date on every competition, so that if the competition is unable to close automatically (ie. when all the entry places are filled) within what we consider to be a realistic timeframe, it will close on the pre-set closing date and the person who is at the top of the leader board on that date will be notified as the winner. The pre-set closing date for any competition can be obtained by request, please state the competition ID number. See Terms & Conditions for further details.

  2. If a competition is less than 10% full, is it worth entering?

    Of course it is!
Don't forget... as one competition ends, another one starts so its probably a brand new competition that you've selected. Other players will enter after you, but unless they beat your time, your position at the top of the leaderboard will be safe. Remember... in any of our competitions, as long as you submit the correct answer in the fastest time you'll be in pole position at the top of the leaderboard.

  3. How do I get free credits via referrals?

At the bottom of your My Account overview screen, you can refer up to three friends at once. This sends them an invitation via email to sign up for a Quidster account and includes your unique referral code. If any of these friends subsequently sign up to Quidster, then as soon as they buy ten or more credits, your account will automatically be credited with 5 free credits.

  4. What's with the different categories?

The category refers to the category from which a competition question is drawn. Sometimes we may offer the same prize many times under different categories to give everyone a fair chance of getting the question right.

  5. What is the Entry Fee for competitions?

The vast majority of competitions will cost only 1 pound (GBP) to enter. The amount of available places varies, but we will always try to keep the cost of entry low.

  6. When is a competition full?

Each different competition has a different amount of available places - that's why it's limited entry. As soon as that number of entries have been made, the competition automatically closes.

  7. How do I know if I've won?

When you enter a competition, you'll be shown the leader board and, if your time was fast enough, your position on it. You can also monitor your position for all competitions that you've entered under "My Account". If you are a winner, you'll receive an e-mail confirming it and your user name will appear on our Winners Page.
